Have you ever been in such a rush that you drove like a maniac, weaving in and out of traffic, honking at everyone, and risking your life and others’? Well, I’ve seen a lot of people doing it on a daily basis. And let me tell you, it’s not worth it. Why? Because chances are, you’re going to end up being even later than you already are.
Think about it. What if you get into an accident? Not only will you have to deal with the damage, the injuries, and the insurance, but you’ll also have to wait for the police, the tow truck, and the ambulance. That could take hours. And don’t forget about the traffic jam you’ll cause for everyone else. How do you think they’ll feel about you?
It’s better to arrive late than not arrive at all
Or what if you get pulled over by a cop? You’ll have to explain why you were speeding, show your license and registration, and hope that he doesn’t give you a ticket. Or worse, arrest you. That could also take a lot of time. And money. And stress.
So what’s the point of driving like a maniac? You’re not saving any time. You’re just putting yourself and others in danger. And you’re probably ruining your mood and your day.
Now, if you are using a taxi or rideshare, please don’t pressure the driver to break the rules and risk their safety and livelihood. They are not your personal chauffeur, they are human beings who have to deal with the consequences of their actions. If they get a ticket, are you willing to pay for it? If they lose their license, are you going to hire them? If they crash, are you going to help them? I didn’t think so. So please, be respectful and understanding, and let them do their job without putting them in a predicament.
The next time you’re running late, just relax. Take a deep breath and drive carefully. Follow the rules of the road and respect other drivers. You might still be late, but at least you’ll be safe. And sane. And maybe even happy. Trust me, it’s better to be late than sorry.
On the other hand, you’ll be amazed at how much smoother your commute will be if you just hit the road a bit earlier. How much earlier, you ask? Well, it depends on your route, but usually 15 to 30 minutes earlier does the trick. You’ll avoid the rush hour, the stress, and the road rage. Plus, you’ll have more time to enjoy your morning coffee, listen to your favorite podcast, or just relax. Sounds good, right? So next time you’re planning your day, remember this golden rule: leave earlier!
