1 teen survives fatal crash that killed 5 in Gwinnett County

Based on the accident report, both Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 2 were headed westward on State Route 316, intending to merge onto Interstate 85 southbound. While navigating the curve in the road, it appears that one or both of the drivers lost control of their vehicles, resulting in a collision between the two.

The driver of Vehicle 2, Emanuel Esfahani, a 20-year-old resident of Hiram, initially emerged from the accident without injuries. However, in an attempt to reach a secure location, he leaped over a barrier and fell a distance of 25 feet into a creek, resulting in multiple bone fractures.

From the Toyota Tacoma (Vehicle 1), there is a lone survivor, an 18-year-old individual from Lawrenceville. At present, the status of their condition remains undisclosed.

The driver of vehicle 3 was a 33-year-old person from Lithonia.

The teens who were killed in the incident are:

  • Katy Gaitan, 17, of Atlanta
  • Ashley Gaitan, 16, of Atlanta
  • Coral Lorenzo, 17, of Atlanta
  • Hung Nguyen, 18, of Lawrenceville
